Imaging guide for interpretation, description and classification for silicone breast implant

PURPOSE

The evaluation of silicone implants by imaging methods is increasingly present in the radiologist's clinical practice.

Currently, radiologists do not have dedicated available tools to classify all changes observed in silicone implants by MRI, Ultrasound, CT, and PET-CT. Often, patients have clinical complaints related to implants that are not diagnosed due to the lack of standardization of the findings to perform the diagnosis.

The purpose of this lexicon, which is not official or linked to medical societies, is to present suggestions for classifying silicone implants.

We do not recommend the use of the descriptors until there is recognition by the responsible societies. Suggestions and criticisms are welcome so that we can offer the best diagnosis for our patients.
